Church Is Our Family Tradition

Going to church every Sunday is something that has been a huge part of my family life ever since I was a little kid.  It was something that my parents taught me to do at a young age, and it is a tradition that I have passed on to my own children, as we have our routine every Sunday morning and always make sure to go to the Sunday service.  We will pile into the car, make our way to the church, then go inside and sit on the church furniture and get ourselves situated before the service actually begins.  Because this is something that I have done since I was a little kid, there are a whole lot of memories that go along with these Sunday mornings.  I am truly hoping that this is a tradition that my kids will one day pass on to my grandkids.

Because I have been doing this for so long, I have even found that the church furniture is something that is very comfortable to me.  I know that might sound odd, but because I have been going to church every Sunday ever since I was a little kid, I have begun to find that the church is often just as comfortable to me as my own home, and I think that is a wonderful thing.  Obviously, I want to instill this same kind of comfort into my kids, and I think the church that I attend really helps to do that with the different children’s programs that they have.  My kids are always excited to go to their respective Sunday School classes, and that is something that really makes me feel good about the whole situation.  I love the fact that they love going to church every Sunday just as much as I do.

Of course, I can’t guarantee that my kids will continue going to church for the rest of their lives, but I think I have instilled in them the good habits that are needed in order to persuade them to do so.  There are many people over the years who I have sadly seen come and go, and there are many people who I grew up with in the church who no longer attend as adults.  This is something that I am hoping to avoid with my children, and that is why I have set up the tradition of church every Sunday ever since they were babies.

I can only hope and pray that my kids will continue going to church as adults and will be able to pass on this great family tradition when they have families of their own.  In the meantime, I will continue attending church services with my family every single Sunday and hope that my kids’ involvement with the church will help them to grow up to be good Christian adults.  I obviously can’t guarantee that this will be the case, but I think I have them started in the right direction.
